Building materials
Centuries ago, zeolite tuffs, which have better physical and mechanical strength compared to other natural building materials, have been used as a suitable building material.
Today, with more understanding of the unique characteristics of zeolite-clinoptilolite, its use as a building material has been developed significantly, so that the largest consumption market of this mineral is located in this sector.
The presence of zeolite is very beneficial to prevent the attack of alkaline materials on the glass fibers of reinforced Portland cements. Zeolite is also used in making light ceramics. One of the main effective factors in the use of zeolites as building materials is their ability to store heat and their unique feature in reversible absorption and desorption of water molecules.
The regulation of the ambient temperature with the help of zeolites is also associated with the regulation of the humidity of the environment. The most extensive and voluminous use of zeolites from the past until now can be mentioned in the construction industry, where they have been directly used to erect thick columns of buildings.
The use of zeolite in CLC light blocks is a suitable and more resistant alternative to industrial and mineral pumice. In AAC light blocks, zeolite replaces dangerous aluminum powder as a hydrogen gas production agent, as well as silica fillers. The formation of silica gel in the combination of zeolite with cement firstly causes a very hard and impermeable coating, and on the other hand, it causes the release of hydrogen and oxygen bubbles, which these characteristics It will produce very light and very resistant and durable blocks.
The use of zeolite in the cement composition after the preparation of clinker, as a natural pozzolan, will result in obtaining very durable and impermeable concrete. For this reason, it is a better and cheaper alternative to silica powder and fly ash.
The use of zeolite in construction materials can generally be considered in several separate sections:
1- Production of various types of ceramic tiles with different characteristics, such as light, colored, acoustic, thermal and chemical insulation, antibacterial tiles and ceramics.
2- types of concrete, concrete blocks and Portland cement such as light concrete, quick-setting concrete, concrete with high chemical resistance, fireproof concrete,
3- Geopolymer cement
4- Use as a raw stone
5- Preparation of asphalt
6- Flooring
